Production Specialist - CNC Machinist

Summary of Duties:

Machine complex parts in a variety of materials and sizes from engineering drawings, solid models, and pre-written CNC programs.

Factory Wide Requirements:

• Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills

• Team player comfortable working in a fast-paced, variable environment

• Computer literacy in common software suites such as Microsoft Office or G Suite Apps and ability to adequately learn additional softwares as necessary to individual responsibilities

• Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner to overtly comply with all applicable OSHA standards to ensure protection of employees, the public, and environment

Required Skills & Expectations:

• Set-up and operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, and a variety of general machine shop equipment

• CNC machine program comprehension and ability to complete basic edits/off-sets

• Produce high precision and dimensionally accurate parts from complex drawings with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), prototype sketches, electronic files and/or verbal instructions

• General knowledge and ability using basic precision measuring instruments (i.e. Calipers, Micrometers, optical comparators, etc.), fixtures and gages required for verifying parts dimensional accuracy

• High attention to detail and ability to recognize tool wear, inferior surface finish from machine lines/blends, and other subjective aspects of manufacturing.

• Ability to identify issues with equipment and inform management accordingly.

• Use manual hand and power tools including but not limited to bandsaws, sanders, grinders, lathes and mills as needed

• Mechanically and mathematically inclined

• Assume a variety of shop roles when needed and additional duties as required

• Sustainably lift up to 50lbs in a range of motions

• Maintain all daily/weekly reports including but not limited to Production, Tooling Consumption, Safety, etc.

• Accurately create and maintain detailed Job Set-Up Sheets and Tooling Lists specific to individual parts to assist in future Set-Ups and Operator Development

Desired Skills:

• High level of computer literacy and proficiency

• Proficient to Expert in GibbsCam or other factory specific CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) software utilized to create manufacturing programs on CNC machinery

• Proficient to Expert in SolidWorks or other factory specific solid modeling software

• Understanding and experience operating Multitasking Machinery (lathes with live tooling, sub-spindles, bar feeders)

• Ability to operate, program, set-up, streamline 4-axis(+) VMC’s

Required Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED

• Manufacturing Technology Degree (Preferred)

• 2+ years experience in related production environment (5+ Preferred)
