Detailed Job Description:

The Content Marketing and Community Manager will report directly to the Brand Marketing Director.  This position requires specific skills and talents in Social Media growth, management, and engagement.  It also requires strong copywriting skills that will be utilized across many facets of the company’s 3 brands (Matador, TinyTents, MicroSend).  We are seeking a Content Marketing and Community Manager who isn’t afraid to take risks, try new things, and can build a brand that people get behind.  The primary focus will be on the Matador brand but the auxiliary brands will also be managed by this position.  A more in-depth overview of responsibilities is listed below:

Social Media Management/Growth: Content Marketing and Community Manager will be responsible for managing and growing the company’s organic social media accounts and maximizing their impact for each brand.  Specific responsibilities include regularly generating engaging content to post, collaborating with other brands and influencers to boost visibility and promote products, responding to DM’s and moderating comments, and finding creative new ways to improve engagement and grow the accounts.  A growth-hacker mentality is greatly appreciated in this position.  Social media platforms include mostly Instagram and Facebook currently, but we’re looking to expand our footprint into TikTok, Twitter, and any other relevant platforms that could generate positive results.

Copywriting: This role requires strong copywriting skills that will be utilized throughout the company.  Copywriting projects include regular social media content, blog content, packaging copy, website copy, ad copy, email/newsletter copy, SMS/Text copy, etc.  Applicants should have very strong writing and story telling skills, as well as a good understanding of what engages customers and drives sales.  Copywriting is often cross-departmental and requires a strong ability to collaborate and incorporate constructive feedback to achieve desired results.

Community Building: Applicant should have a strong motivation and the necessary skills to build a community around the company’s brands.  This will involve outreach to build partnerships with other brands, influencers, and other relevant parties to maximize the reach and impact of each brand.  Strong connections within the social media community and a history of building digital communities for brands will be seen as a significant benefit to any applicant.

Email and SMS Program Management: Content Marketing and Community Manager will be responsible for generating compelling email and SMS content on a regular basis.  This will involve collaborative work with the Brand Marketing Director, Graphic Designers, and other team members at times.  Applicants should have experience in Klayvio or similar bulk email management software, and a good understanding of how to run and maximize email campaign results, segment audiences, etc.

SEO: Generate content and strategies to optimize organic search engine rankings for company-owned websites and products.

Other Responsibilities: Matador is a very small company so everyone wears a lot of hats.  The description above is just a brief overview of the primary roles and responsibilities of the position.  Other responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, assisting with website updates, helping to generate promotional/advertisement ideas in a group brainstorm setting, generating or contributing to weekly marketing reports, assisting with sales sheet copy/content, approving product reviews on the websites, managing affiliate networks/partners, engaging in research projects and/or customer surveys to gain customer insights, generate SEO descriptions and product tags for the website, request and curate content from outside contributors, and any other number of related or unrelated tasks that arise from time to time.

Creativity: We aren’t looking for someone who just wants to maintain the status quo.  We’re seeking the person who wants to take risks and make waves with bold new campaigns, new ideas, and a fearless approach to content marketing.  Applicants must have the ability to generate and execute new concepts from scratch with minimal oversight and management.  They must also be able to adhere to brand guidelines and work within brand voice and visual brand language when necessary.  Applicants must have a collaborative mindset and the ability to make improvements to their work based on constructive criticism and feedback.

Applicant requirements:

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field.  Applicants must have experience running corporate social media accounts, email programs, and copywriting.

In addition to a resume and cover letter, a portfolio of the applicant’s recent work or a link to examples of recent work is required for this position.  Applications submitted without a portfolio or any links/examples of recent work will not be reviewed.

Location: Boulder, Colorado (Remote applicants will not be considered)

Application Deadline: 12/10/2021

Compensation:

Matador offers competitive salary, healthcare, a very generous vacation policy, a great work atmosphere with free snacks, Kombucha on tap, ergonomic stand/sit desks, and great co-workers with a passion for travel and the outdoors.

Colorado salary range disclosure requirement: $55,000 – $85,000 annual plus bonus, depending on experience level and skillset.
