Job Summary:

We are Looking for a passionate and energetic individual that is excited to meet our guest needs and shares a love for the outdoors. Come join our team at one of the industry leaders in Outdoor Adventure at NOC's 20,000 square foot Great Outpost in downtown Gatlinburg, TN, located at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. As the Retail Store Manager, you will be an expert in all our products, apparel, gear and adventure offerings, and be able to provide our guests with in-depth knowledge of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and surrounding trails.

The ideal candidate understands retail metrics and is comfortable with the dynamic challenges that face a large retail operation. This position reports to the Director of Retail and is a full-time year-round position with NOC. Ideal applicants must be available to work weekends, evening and holidays and hours and schedule will fluctuate based on business demands. Retail Managers have access to all of NOC's outdoor activities, gear, apparel, and footwear at special discounted rates, plus free/discounted access to several local area attractions.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains responsibility for the store revenue, staffing, budgets, and inventory.
  • Assists in creating budgets for all facets of the store, including merchandise, payroll, supplies, fixtures, and revenue.
  • Responsible for ensuring that budgets are met.
  • Implements and monitors all inventory guidelines regarding inventory levels, inventory control.
  • Implements and adheres to policies and guidelines of NOC.
  • Oversees the creation of all new structure and guidelines, as well as policy and procedure.
  • Ensures compliance with existing company policies and practices – computer systems and NOC strategic goals.
  • Supports and directs all Store staff.
  • Schedules and facilitates all Store staff meetings.
  • Provides job descriptions and clear expectations for all supervised positions within Store.
  • Provides input & feedback to the Buying Team.
  • Works with Director of Retail and retail team to create training programs and standards.
  • Conducts regular performance evaluations.
  • Works on the sales floor

Community Leader

Serves as the local face of NOC in the community and maintains relationships with Gatlinburg business leaders to further NOC interests in the business community. Attends all pertinent associations and chamber meetings.

Qualifications:

Preferred:

  • Extensive retail experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical skills regarding spreadsheet data, industry trends, and personnel issues, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with guests, staff, and manufacturers’ reps.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to work autonomously, yet function as a team player.
  • Strong customer service orientation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Comfortable climbing ladders and stairs
  • Ability to stoop, bend and twist
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Must speak clearly and concisely
  • Comfortable working in a guest facing position.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 3 years management experience in a retail environment.
