About Dirt Tek Trails: Established in 2019, Dirt Tek Trails focuses on best-in-class trail design and construction for communities, ski areas, bike parks, private land, and more. By always focusing on the client's goals and the end-user, we build in a way that endures time and elements.

Position Description: Trail crew members work outdoors daily with Dirt Tek’s owner. Supporting the owner as he operates the excavator machine, the trail crew member will primarily clear trees and finish the trail behind the machine. No previous experience is required. Team member will be trained in proper tool use, project techniques, and trail-building skills. Training topics may include advanced chainsaw and hand tool use, and trail finishing techniques. This position involves frequent travel, irregular hours, and a varying weekly schedule, with possible time off between projects. 

Schedule: Full-time commitment, hours & schedules vary from week to week with extended travel. The majority of time is spent on projects in the field. 

2024 projects currently located in:

Sandpoint, Idaho (April - May) 

Carbondale, Colorado (June - August)

TBD (August - September)

Compensation 

  • The pay rate starts at $22.00 per hour / $33.00 per OT hour. 

  • Shared housing is provided during active projects. 

  • Travel paid for transportation to out-of-state projects. 

  • A project completion bonus is paid upon completion of a full season ending in Fall 2024. 

  • Outdoor professional discounts through Outdoor Pro-Link are available for gear purchases. 

Major Functions Responsibilities may include:

  • Driving/riding an ATV safely on the project site

  • Managing tools and equipment on the project site

  • Running a chainsaw to cut trees

  • Raking and packing dirt

  • Running a plate compactor

  • Lopping brush

  • Carpentry work for wood structures

  • Rock work

  • Product testing - yeah, you get to ride your bike!

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Other Requirements

  • Willingness to learn Dirt Tek-specific techniques and procedures in trail building

  • Flexibility, positive attitude, and professionalism at every turn.

  • A genuine desire to travel, work on the road, and be outside all day.

  • Willingness and respectfulness in community living and cohabitating with co-workers - just be cool.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands Trail building in the backcountry requires stamina and the ability to negotiate rough, uneven, and often steep terrain while carrying tools, equipment, and a heavy daypack. Trail work often occurs in all elements. All tools are provided but proper gear is required from each team member for work.
