Position Summary

Personalizations, Inc. is hiring a Director of Business Development to work with our thirty-one independent sales individuals and internal support team. Title based upon experience managing team members, knowledge of the industry and relationships within the channel. You will be responsible for growing the division, building additional retail relationships, and managing the internal support team.

The role’s primary responsibility is to lead the team to achieve top line growth, increase sales volume, and market share. This individual will develop a strategic plan aligned to the overall business strategy of expanding market share within the consumer products goods (CPG) arena, including but not exclusive to the outdoor industry. Support the leadership team in the best use of resources for tradeshow and events within the channel in accordance with established objectives for growth and profitability. This leader will seek out new growth opportunities and communicate market research, competitive analysis, and other studies to assess potential benefit to the business.

Job Description:

  • Develop and execute the vision and strategy for growing sales.
  • Manage and enhance existing market positioning while seeking opportunities in emerging or alternate markets to achieve corporate growth objectives.
  • Develop and establish the optimum sales channel for product promotion, value, and distribution globally for all product categories.
  • Recommend and implement approved price and promotion strategy as required to establish and maintain market position.
  • Identify and communicate customer requirements for new products as required to achieve corporate market share goals within a specific market to merchandise/design leadership.
  • Maintain and ensure high-level customer contact and facilitate and promote customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and anticipate sales volumes to ensure profit generation, manufacturing level loading to ensure OTD to the customer.
  • Participate in the identification of potential new emerging technology and product enhancements to the current sales portfolio.
  • Champion process improvement professionals and projects executed to enhance sales growth and corporate growth initiatives.
  • Acts as a resource to sales personnel in contract negotiations and new proposals. Helps team develop marketing plans for specific customer accounts and track progress of major projects.
  • Attract, develop, and retain talented and skilled individuals who bring key capabilities to the team and to the company.
  • Establish close relationships at senior levels with current and potential customers; be able to gain direct access to the customers’ senior executive team.
  • Participates fully in professional societies and activities related to Fire & Safety, Automotive, First Responder, and Military type industry in general and the sales profession.


  • 10+ years’ experience with managing and directing a global sales force.
  • Understands drinkware construction, fabrication, and technical aspects.
  • Excellent knowledge of sales management techniques, customer prospecting and the sales cycle.
  • Excellent communications skills – both verbal and written with the ability to make necessary sales presentations, status reports and technical presentations to management and customers.
  • Excellent leadership and proven ability to foster teamwork and cultivate positive customer relationships.
  • Ability to read and summarize the financial performance documents created by the finance team and operating unit.
  • Knowledgeable in Value Selling, Voice of the Customer processes.
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft office software.
  • Must work effectively with executives, leaders, and staff.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, maturity, and good judgment; demonstrates a positive can-do attitude; have effective communication skills with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Broad functional experience in areas of strategic planning and marketing, business and market development, market research and planning and promotions/advertising.
  • Must be able to travel up to 60% of the time.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, sales and negotiation skills including experience with solution-based selling.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving profitability and growth while optimizing commercial operations and strong fiscal management.
